Deadpurpledog
Good to know. What’s the best way to eliminate pitting on door handles, please?
marcapra
I tried to order Simichrome on Amazon just now. Amazon won't ship it to California. So I ordered Flitz instead.

If you already have pitting on chromed pieces, there is really nothing you can short of replacing the pitted parts. The pits or bumps are corrosion under the chrome. Sorry.

Ive had some luck erasing the scratch in chrome with diamond paste. What actually happens is the chrome and the scratch are removed just showing the nickel plating. The best I could hope for was blending the chrome plating removal. A coating of commercial clear coat like Everbrite can help with the patch attempt. My approach is not a panacea but has satisfied some people. The picture below of an old roadwheel Ive tried to resurrect was badly scratched and the diamond paste seemed to help.
