The Silver Dome has a lower compression 6 cylinder flathead so certainly not the first Hemi. This 4 cylinder is an improved version on the Maxwell 4. Frame off restoration. 4 cylinder flat head "Silver Dome", so this is really an early Hemi. 3 speed, 4 wheel hydraulic brakes. Runs well. This truck came out of La Pine, Oregon in the early seventies and a complete restoration was completed around 2000. Also included is a separate 6 cylinder with 4 speed (needs to be rebuilt) and numerous boxes of spare parts. This truck has been driven on several tours, but total mileage on restoration is easily less than 5000 miles. $22,500.00 OBO...A restoration like this can NOT be done for the price of this van! StillOutThere Posted October 28, 2023 Share Posted October 28, 2023 The "Dodge Brothers" still appeared on the cars as late as 1938. My first car was a 1938 Dodge Brothers sedan. But the two brothers named John and Horace both died from the flu. By 1925, without them, the company was floundering under the management of the brother's two widows and it was recommended they sell out. If I remember correctly, "Dodge Brothers" stayed on the cars into 1938 as a tribute to their mechanical and engineering skills. You will recall that Henry Ford said they were the best machinists in Detroit and indeed, pre 1914, Henry's car used drivetrains constructed by the brothers Dodge. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TerryB Posted October 28, 2023 Share Posted October 28, 2023 (edited) My 1937 Dodge truck had Dodge Brothers on the grill emblem. Nice early truck, just don’t be in a hurry to get anywhere. Even in 1937, the owners manual said the maximum safe speed was 45mph. Just remembered I have a picture of my spare grill emblem.
