AllThumbs
This massive steering wheel has been hanging on the wall in my shop for about 45 years. I often wonder what auto it may have been from. Can anyone identify this? Does anyone need it to complete a restoration? Diameter just over 18 inches Aluminum five spoke hub One inch bore with keyway Wood looks like walnut or cherry No identified manufacturer, some individual letters stamped on the hub Maybe I need to find a car to attach to this? I like that idea.

1937hd45
Looks like a European wheel, a French make used the five spoke design. Bob
AllThumbs
If so you would have to wonder how it arrived here? It would look great on a big touring car or maybe a truck.
wayne sheldon
One doesn't run into them very often, however, five spoke steering wheels were used on several American early automobile manufacturers. I don't recall marque names offhand, just that I have seen them several times over the years. The use of five spoke steering wheels generally seemed to end on cars around 1907. A number of heavy trucks also used five spoke steering wheels, and for some years later, even into the early 1920s. They were often heavy duty and larger around. AllThumbs
Thanks Wayne, This has been decorating my wall for many years and I kind of thought it was very early. I sure would like to see someone use it on an early auto.
