Bumpers question

The front and rear bumpers on my 1924 sedan have been painted with an aluminum style rust paint.

What was the finish on the front and rear bumpers when they left the factory; were they painted, or plated?

 From ads they could have been black or nickeled, maybe 6 and 8 dollars each.

I have front and rear Buckeye bumpers on my '22 tourer, Todd.  When I bought the car back in 1985, I believe they were in their original condition and were painted in black enamel.

We just repaired these for a friend’s 24 Ute. They were in a bad state when we got them   
But after a couple of days work and hard labour they came up really nice. Definitely worth all the effort. before a couple of hours in the press and sandblasting. 

After Nickle plating  

mounted on the car  we don’t know what they came off but they fitted nicely  

We had to make the mounting brackets
