wayne sheldon Posted April 19, 2023 Share Posted April 19, 2023 Do not use "carriage bolts" in wheels! Carriage bolts are for use in wood low stress applications and are made of soft steel. Wheels require a tougher steel. Special wheel bolts can be purchased through many antique automobile parts suppliers. It is also important to have an appropriately length shank on the bolt!
