Riv Eng
Hi All, I have my frame going to blasters at the end of the month before powder coat. I removed the front lower control arms, but the bushings are seized in the frame. I checked the chassis service manual, and they only say to press or remove the bushings with a suitable tool?? I tried to hammer them out with a steel rod and sledge but they didn't budge. Any suggestions?
wildcat1562
keep heating the end of the bolt, and spraying them down, repeat heat a few times, or more, they will come out but you will need new bolts
60FlatTop
You will need to knock out the inner sleeve and rubber. The outer sleeve of the bushing is pressed in. Use a muffler chisel to cut the sleeve along the inner length. https://www.ebay.com/itm/114783868478?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28 Cut lightly then roll the sleeve in on itself. Easiest way to get them out.

OldGerman
I made a simple tool with a Long threadened shaft and nuts. Reversed the tool to press in the new bushing. I will look for the dimensions if you want me to do.
Riv Eng
Great idea! I think it's straightforward - large end cups the frame and provides a spot for the bushing to go, small end butts against the bushing and forces it out, and the threaded rod goes through the whole thing. I'll make one for myself and let you know how it goes!
