Old buicks 2
I'm working with a friend on his 18 Maxwell. I told him I would make new spring shackle bolts. Trouble is, that the eyes on the springs are completely worn out. They are supposed to be 9/16 in diameter but the new bolts I made can almost turn end for end in the old spring eyes. Where or who can make new springs for this project?

jdome
Before you have new springs made, How badly are they worn? If not too bad you should be able to ream the holes out to 5/8 or 11/16 and then make new bolts to fit. If the spring holes are worn, chances are the shackle bracket or plate holes are worn and you'll have to deal with those too. Some springs that I have dealt with in that era had bronze bushings that can be replaced. If not you might consider reaming the hole out to 11/16 + clearance and insert a bronze bushing : 9/16 ID X 11/16 OD X length.
