Color code "U" for Cordovan was an unusual choice. The two-tone brown tan interior was not common either. The center consoles were usually a single color, being the darker of the two (if two colors were ordered) or a bright metal trim plate sometimes filled the horizontal area. Other than adding a stock air cleaner and cleaning the stains off the trunk mat, it looks ready for the local car show. I don't know how an aftermarket air conditioner would fit the divided instrument panel, but the original had vents through it above the radio.

Pricewise, NADA tops out at $30k for a 352-V8 car without factory air. West coast prices are usually around $20k for nice drivers.

When I first starting looking for a classic car, I dreamed of a square bird (58-60). I never found the right one and purchased my Buick. One of the reasons I liked these cars was that they were in my price range and they looked cool. This is surely a nice looking example, but IMO it is over priced. There are several of these birds out there around the 20K mark with more options. For that price I would want the 460 Lincoln engine, factory air and power everything (windows, seats, steering and brakes. Nice looking car though.

It sounds as if you know Thunderbirds much better than I.

I was thinking, though, that this maroon was a color I hadn't

seen on a Square Bird.

For myself, I like the 1961-63 style better, but so many

of those tend to be in specific colors (white, off-white, black)

that a different factory paint color is more interesting, I think.

This body style is appealing but the car and interior color combination would be a big hurdle to get over. Especially after choking on the price. Still they are a nice car to look at with more room inside that the original T-Birds.
