"Howard Bury, owned three service stations in the City, including the one pictured here. I'm assuming that it was taken in the twenties, since he lost all three in the Great Depression." This fancy Moorish styled station opened in 1927 on Wiltshire Blvd. CALPET (California Petroleum Company) was eventually bought out by "the man who wears the star".
