I've learned my Dad's first car in pic was a Hudson Hornet. Can anyone tell me from what year? Was this a high-end car?

Hudsons were priced in the medium and upper-medium priced segments, comparable with and competitive to Oldsmobiles & Buicks and DeSotos & Chryslers, dependent upon series and model.

BTW, the second photo looks like it could have been for a cigarette advertisement back then, something like "Let-up and Light-up a Camel...for real smoking pleasure."

You're probably right, but I thought that they were optional on one of the models -- Pacemaker, maybe?

Yes, skirts were optional on 1950-1952 Pacemakers, standard equipment on all other 1948-1953 Hudson stepdown models except 1952 Wasps.

Thanks , always like to learn at least one thing each day. I was the librarian for the Hudson club for several years , I missed that somehow.
