New York City in the 1940's

Only one of those bizarre, cartoon-ish Checker Model A landaulet taxis has survived and been restored.   By the numbers plying the avenues, one can see how Checkers and the DeSoto Skyviews dominated the NYC taxi business.  Also seen are a number of 1941 Packard 110 six taxis, a market the company had just entered then.  The model T1462 was a 133" wheelbase sedan built specifically for the taxi market, none are known to survive.

Another rarity is a '38 Yellow Coach taxi, one that used Chevrolet components and body, its seen briefly, identified by multiple bumper guards.  Parked by the right side corner later in the video when traffic is held for cross traffic is a '39-'40 Graham combination coupe.  The final sop for Packard enthusiasts at 5:21 is a 1934 Eight convertible victoria parked in front of a row of brownstones.
