Paul English
Hello there to all the Dodge lovers, I am writing from Forrest,Victoria, Australia, Downunder. G’day, Back in the 1930’s this vehicle used to service Forrest and districts as a rail car on the logging line from Geelong. As you can see it is a long bodied vehicle fitted wih train wheels from a manufacturer in South Australia. We believe there is only one of six still in existence here in Victoria which is being restored at Daylesford. Any information would be greatly appreciated and even the knowledge of other similar vehicles. It would be bonza to one day have one or similar back here in Forrest on the historical rail trail. Hooroo and stay safe from downunder
padgett
Most in the US were road-rail cars with raiseable railway wheels. That could be used on or off the rails. I saw several (mostly Ford based) in Alaska.

58L-Y8
Do you have any more photos with clearer details and from different angles. They might have been built on the truck chassis.
Paul English
G’day and a merry Christmas from downunder. Paul English
These are 2 I have just found. 6 Dodge vehicles were modified in South Australia of which these photos and the previous photos appear to be similar. I am hoping that these photos will help verify the vintage of the the rail cars. Cheers
