STAYGOLD
Hello, Wondered if this pair of wood spoke wheels are anything that anyone here could help provide any information on? These have very long axle hubs, nothing like I have ever come across. The wheels are 17" by 3 1/2" and the axle hub is tapered. The hub sticks out 5" from the wood spokes on the front and 3 3/4" from the back. The wood spokes look very crudely made, not to mention their condition. Any ideas would be great. Thanks. edinmass
Not automotive.......best guess......a cart for vending or something along those lines. Drop center rims indicate no earlier than 1927 and most likely post 1932. Edited August 28, 2020 by edinmass (see edit history)
Layden B
I agree with the non-automotive. Just a side note on drop center rims. Ford optional wire wheels for 1926 Model T were drop center.
Desertexplorer
These are skein wagon wheel conversions from steel tire wood wagon wheels to automobile rubber tires. Used to see a lot of these on old hay wagons.
