Fossil
Someone has installed a new E-brake on this car. I don't think it was installed correctly. The E-brake assembly slides over a square leg that extends from the left side of the transmission. It was installed with the long 5/16" bolt washer and spring on the outside. This tends to push the brake band up against the side of the drum causing it to drag all the time. To me it looks like the spring should go between the left side of the leg and the inside of the loop on the brake assembly so it holds the band away from the drum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Chris
ArticiferTom
Try this . Make sure to have a well adjusted e-brake . test for hold and stopping . A little drag here and there would not hurt to get it to grab good . If new shoes; will wear . If not check heads of rivets . Fossil
Thanks Tom! That's what I was looking for, the spring goes on the inside. Perfect. 😀

keiser31
Don't forget to put a wire through the adjustment bolt head after you are done getting the adjustment right. Otherwise, it may back itself out.
Fossil
Got a nice roll of stainless tie wire from our airplane days. Got two in the differential and one on the e-brake to tie off. Thanks for the reminder.
