kreed
I am repainting my 66 GS and have it pretty much torn apart. The heater has not been working well so I thought while I have it part, I Would change the heater core . It is a non AC car . The only ones I can find don't look like they would work as my inlet and outlet hoses are far apart in the heater box . What I am missing . Never done this before . See pics below .Probably obvious to the real experts but I don't want to order the wrong thing . Thanks for the advice . KReed ROA 14549 PS . That is not my engine bay but hope it will look that good when I get done . steelman
Ken, if you have the old one in hand it is best to take it to a radiator shop and have it recored. They will put your tanks on a new core and when you get it back you know it fits because it is the one that came out of the car. 2

JZRIV
Yep - recore - New replacements aren't available for non-A/C cars...…. at least they weren't a year or so ago

For almost anything automotive and of a certain age, if someone will rebuild it you are better off going that way than trying to replace it. Jose Dasilva
Just curious does anyone have a picture of the non a/c heater core and is it accessible through the firewall? I also have a non a/c '66 with a leaking heater core. I've just bypassed it for now but plan on removing it and having it re cored like many have advised. There seems to be a lot of room there compared to my old '66 that had a/c.
RivNut
Unlike the first generation Rivieras, you don’t have a console in your way. The best tool for use in a situation like this is a 1966 Buick Chassis Service Manual.
JZRIV
Remove the box/housing from engine side firewall. Very easy with no A/C.
Jose Dasilva
Thanks JZRIV, I thought that would work. My first '66 Riv had A/C and it was definitely cramped in that area. I like the non A/C look and space.
