royboy47
Met a gentleman today that has a few mid 50"s cars. He was telling me he converts all his generators to a 1 wire alternator. He says he mounts it then runs one wire with a fuse link and done. Will this work on my 55 driver. Thanks.

NC-car-guy
Yes but realize you lose a safety to the starter switch. 1
SpecialEducation
Our ‘56 didn’t have throttle start when we got it, so swapping in an alternator was easy. Generator bracket was cracked, too. Had to do something... lol
buick man
Really fella's I think there is a way to save your " push accelerator to start " functions while adding an alternator : http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/PushGasToStartWithAlternator.htm ....... Also a whole other take on even going the Generator to Alternator route: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/convert-generator-to-alternator-on-56-buick.310615/ Edited July 26, 2019 by buick man (see edit history)
