moran75
Hi All My 65 is an A/C car... Two questions: 1)with both fan belts off the generator pulley should the generator fan/pulley turn freely by hand? 2)if the gen has to come out it seems there is no way other than to remove some of the A/C equipment that boxes it in - what's the easiest/best way to do it? Thanks in advance Kevin Edited June 24, 2019 by moran75 (see edit history)
RivNut
Your car has an alternator, not a generator. 1) Yes, you should be able to freely turn the alternator if there are no belts attached. 2) i defer to someone who has done it recently. riv2x4
On my 64, I changed the alternator and don't remember removing any AC parts to replace it.
mp65riv
Although it is a tight fit, you should be able to remove/replace the alternator without removing any of the AC components.
moran75
Thanks all...it’s out ... i removed all bolts and rear mounting bracket of the compressor ...that could then be moved rearwards..and alternator eased up and out towards front of car...very satisfying it was as well when it finally popped out...
