Bill Harmatuk
What are these? 24 of them. Came with a box of "Junk" from a 30 U. Bill H
Grimy
I'm not familiar with 30-U, but those look like detent washers to allow, for example, brake shoe adjustments by detents or 'clicks.'
DFeeney
These washers are used in the early Chrysler products fiber disc universal joints, A large number were needed ,maybe as many as 30. For example the 1928/29 Plymouth used 5 disc. Two disc were used on the transmission end of the driveshaft and 3 disc were used on the rear of the driveshaft. Each disc had 6 holes and they were stacked together. The washers were used on each hole between the disc and made the group of disc thicker and flexible. This was the method that was used in place of a slip joint. I believe this was still in use in the early 30 U but was then changed to a real universal/slip joint. Many 20's cars used the fiber disc joints and I think Chrysler carried it over from the Maxwell.
Mark Wetherbee
I thought they looked familiar! I think DFeeney nailed it - fiber disc universal joint washers same as ones in a mid 20’s Studebaker I had many years ago, and probably used on dozens of different makes from the teens right through.
Bill Harmatuk
Incredible.!! Would have never guessed or believed it. I'm squirreling them back so if you run across anyone that needs them let me know. I have 24 and a few flat washers that were with them. DFeeney
Hello Bill, The flat washers were used on the outside of the disc pack under the bolt heads.
