BucketofBolts
What year did the sterring wheel finger grips come into production? For which manufacturer? What year did the finger grip style for sterring wheels become almost universal?

wayne sheldon
Some wooden steering wheels had finger grips rather early, many did not (talking about 1912ish here. The earliest production car that I personally know of that had a rubber based molded wheel rim with finger grips on it was Lozier. I know (fairly sure) they had that by 1912. A friend of mine had a 1915 Lozier, it had them, was original, and that made me notice a few earlier Lozier automobiles. I think a few European cars had them before that?
