mike6024
Stoddard Dayton supposedly taken in 1915, location unknown but probably California.
Spinneyhill
I love the driver's high-top hat! Not much thought was given to safety in those days. Would they have built something with all those tall spindly columns in CA after the 1906 EQ?
JACK M
I suspect that this was built as a horse track. Many fairgrounds are using old horse race tracks for car racing these days. There was a lot more money in horse racing than there is in car racing what with the betting and the social thing. Most are to long for stock cars and have been shortened to quarter mile or so. Spinneyhill
Spectators haven't changed! They stand close like that to rally cars going sideways at high speed and then it is a "tragedy" when a driver loses control.
