keiser31
Do you mean the rear axle/hub assembly?
Rusty_OToole
Usually it is not the installing, it is taking them off. The hubs are on a tapered shaft, they are supposed to wedge tight together when you tighten the nut so they can't turn . Over the years they grow together, to where you need a BIG puller to pull them off. The factory puller went on all 5 lug nuts. The usual puller you get today has 3 legs and goes on 3 lug nuts. Get the biggest one you can fit on. Tool rental shops have them. Start by removing the hub nut. Turn it around and put it back on flush with the end of the shaft. This protects the shaft, and prevents the hub from taking off like a guided missile. Now put on the puller and wail on it. If it is too stubborn leave it overnight and wail on it some more. It will pop loose eventually. This has been covered numerous times in the Chrysler section. There are some interesting threads with pictures. Rusty_OToole
To install the hubs they need to be clean and dry, do not put on any oil or grease. Check that they are not worn or scored . There should be a key in the keyway. The hub goes on dry then a washer and the castle nut. Tighten to 150 - 200 ft lbs. Put in a cotter pin.
