philipj Posted March 8, 2018 Share Posted March 8, 2018 While removing the carburetor, I noticed a very damaged fitting on the vacuum advance tube which had to be removed with vise grips, a major pet peeve of mine!... So thinking it would not be a big deal, I went on my way hoping to have a fix today. It was not to be, it actually turned out into a major 3 hr hunt which proved unsuccessful, despite going to my usual old-fashioned hardware store and two hydraulic supply companies... The one bit of information I could come up with (unverified) is that it is a 1/8" size and 5/16-24 thread (dash size 02) Not familiar with that unit of measure while searching for any fittings ever... If anyone can confirm the fitting size as well as provide the specs and source for the copper tubing it would be appreciated. Thank you. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bloo Posted March 8, 2018 Share Posted March 8, 2018 Pictures might help. I think these might be "threaded sleeve" fittings rather than double flare. Is the tubing copper? I would have suspected steel. Do they look like this? If so, Midland Metals still make them. May not be correct, but it works with copper as well, and hopefully darken to green with enough time. BTW, if anyone needs these fittings I bought a pack of 10...
