That is interesting. I think I will pick up a bottle just so I don't forget. I have been using hydraulic jack oil, but I would give that a try.

 

I like to use an oil squirt can to fill shocks.

I disconnect the shock link and work the arm as I fill them. You can feel the firm up. If you see signs of leakage where the shaft enters the shock body you can try wrapping cotton string close to the opening. Sometimes it will swell the cotton enough to stop or slow a leak.
