Alain from Normandy Posted February 26, 2018 Posted February 26, 2018 Hello, restoration is going well see frame on wheels. In order to prepare chock absorbers I would like to know: quality of oil to use level of oil to fill in these chock absorbers Thanks
Bill Harmatuk Posted March 15, 2019 Posted March 15, 2019 (edited) This is what I used. Fill to the top. 1930 CJ. Should be the same. Edited March 15, 2019 by Bill Harmatuk (see edit history) 1
60FlatTop Posted March 16, 2019 Posted March 16, 2019 That is interesting. I think I will pick up a bottle just so I don't forget. I have been using hydraulic jack oil, but I would give that a try. I like to use an oil squirt can to fill shocks. I disconnect the shock link and work the arm as I fill them. You can feel the firm up. If you see signs of leakage where the shaft enters the shock body you can try wrapping cotton string close to the opening. Sometimes it will swell the cotton enough to stop or slow a leak. Bernie
