Center cap compatibility

Hi everyone.

I'm kinda new to the Riv scene after picking up a '66 last fall.

I was wondering about wheel center caps.  I saw an ad for a set and the guy says they're for a '72 but they look just like the ones that I've seen everywhere else for a '66.

I've posted a photo.  What do you think?  Does the guy have the wrong year on them or did the '72 come with a similar cap in a different size?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Those are 66-70 caps. They fit a wheel with a 2-1/8" diameter hole. 72 wheels had a 2" hole. Its possible seller got them off a 72 that had 66-70 wheels put on it in the past. Who knows.

FYI they are reproduced as well which moderates the value of originals.

Within the Riviera Owners Association's website, there's a chart that shows the dimensions (width, center hole diameter, back spacing, and production codes) for the different Buick Formula Five (rally) wheels that Buick made between 1964 and 1978.  You  an figure out which wheels would be correct for your car.

Welcome to the ROA AACA website and your first post Bloodshot !

How about a name and a location - we are a very friendly group here.

They are definitely '66 -'70 centre caps as Jason has stated.

The seller has the wrong year stated, although the wheels may have been mounted on a '72 Riviera.

They should fit your '66, assuming it has the optional chrome road wheels.
