1913Moline
Carleton,
They made three models of these- Model A being the biggest and Model C being the smallest. There are a dozen or so which have been listed over the years with the Pierce-Arrow Society. As just a guess, I think that they probably built less than 500 of them. I would suspect that there are 20-30 which have survived, maybe less.
Check out www.pierce-arrow.org There is a listing for production volumes of autos in the technical section.
I will do some digging into past articles in the PAS and see if there is some production data.
Greg
Guest
Does anyone know how many Travelodges were produced by Pierce and how many have survived?
Thanks, Carleton
Guest
CarletonWhen I wrote Marc Hamburger in 1985, he sent along a listing of 3 Model A's (20'), 12 Model B's (16'), and two Model C's (13'). I believe he added my, previously unregistered "C", for a total of 18. His best guess was about 400 produced.Car Collector and Car Classics magazine for Sept. 1980 has Marc's write-up on restoration of his "A".LarryNo. Nevada
edinmass
Hello , My intrest in Pierce Travelodges has been going on now for 20 years. I have collected all the known literature on them, as well as era photos. I was able to purchase a model B and a model C in the past 4 years. The total restoration of the model B will be finished this spring. Here are a couple of 1937 photos of one in Florida. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. edinmass
Sorry, In answer to your question about 450 Travelodges were built. About 20 are still with us. MOST are too far gone to fix. Even if money were no object. They seem to have made great chicken "coupes" . I bought the first decent one I found. Ed

Guest
Howdy from dry hot texas...the other day we stumbled across a pierce arrow trailer the body looks pretty solid. It has the logo plate on the back .We haven't seen the inside yet but I assume its not to good. Do you know how I can tell which model it is? Is it worth restoring? Are they really rare? edinmass
They made the trailer in three sizes. Known as Model A, B, C, they are most often found with the interrior torn out. If the serial number tag is still on the front, I can tell you the model. From memory the smallest Model C is about 12 feet, the B is about 16, and the A is about 19. The most popular is the B, then the A, and lastly is the C. Take a tape mesure and post the length, I'll try and post the dealer info on the lengths. Guest
Richardt:Congragulations. I am new here, but have just seen a photo of my first Travelodge. Wow! My brother dropped off a book for me, "Ready to Roll: A celebration of the classic American travel trailer," because he knew we had started looking for an older Airstream. There on page 58 and 59 was a 1936 Model A Travelodge in the most gorgeous blue I'd ever seen. I'm working on a book set in the 1930s and he said I had to find a way to include this thing in the book. I will!Where are you in Texas? We are in Waco. I would love to see one of these in person. BTW, I have a 1961 Willys Traveller that we may have for sale because I'm not sure I can afford to restore it (it is supposed to be rare--only 12 or so made in 1961 and most Willys guys have never seen one). If you know anyone interested, send them my way.Geo. WilhiteAuthor, The Texas Rodeo Murder

Thanks, Ed Hi Ed in Mass, Any chance you would know the GVW of a model C travelodge? I am trying to title one, and the dmv wants to know the GVW. Thanks a lot.
