37 Buick Special
Can anyone point me to some good close up photos of a 37 248 engine so I know where everything goes and what it should look like? Thank you for any help.
dibarlaw
37: Here are some of mine. There are many more if you do a forum search. If you need any specific location I could take some.
37 Buick Special
dibarlaw, Thanks! I did some searching on the forum but didn't come up with a lot. Will look some more. Your engine looks very similar to mine. No radiator, water pump, thermostat, bypass, etc. Also have my generator and intake and exhaust etc out. Could you send me a photo or two (fairly close up) of the right side of the motor? I see you have your heater hose strap secured to the center acorn on the valve cover. Is this correct? Thanks again. dibarlaw
D. The heater hose strap was attached to this location when I bought the car in 1987. I have seen it attached to the push rod cover also. I grabbed my camera then remembered that I no longer have the car out in my garage (working on my 1925 Master) it is stored a block away. I did a search on ebay for 1937 Buicks for sale as there is usually a lot of photos and video with the ads. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-Buick-Other-Special-Sedan-AACA-Natl-1st-Place-Nice-VIDEO-/162393931392
37 Buick Special
Thanks again dibarlaw. Seems like most photos don't show where the heater hose strap is actually anchored. Funny thing, that link for the 37 Buick was the runner up when I finally bought mine. It might have been a better choice but no going back. But it had radials, 12 v system and no cowl tag. Mine was attached to the bolt holding the small box like cover just ahead of the oil filler cap. Not sure what that is. D.
1937-44
There is a wealth of information being maintained for the free use of 1937-1938 car owners and enthusiasts online at; http://www.1937and1938buicks.com/The-Torque-Tube/The-Torque-Tube.htm There are at least two references to heater hose routing including;http://www.1937and1938buicks.com/The-Torque-Tube/Volume XVII Issue 6 (July-August 1999).pdf and http://www.1937and1938buicks.com/The-Torque-Tube/Volume III Issue 1 (September 1984).pdf It looks like you will have to scroll through the issues as the specific pages didn't copy correctly. The Volume III issue is a single paragraph explaining when the change in heater hose routing changed and the Issue XVII shows a picture of the normally accepted routing.
