How to remove the transmission lock from a 1926 Buick model 26-28 to have a new key cut?

 There should be set screws on either side of the shift tower. Loosen them and the lock assembly should pull out.

Dave,

     On the left side of the transmission, just under the key, you will see a hole with a line thru it.  This is where the small screw is located that needs to be unscrewed to remove the lock cylinder.  There are also numbers on the face of the key tumbler if you can read them.  It is a letter and then 4 numbers on mine.  I gave my key code to Jessers classic Keys, 330-376-8181 and he cut me a key on an original Yale blank.  Total with shipping was $57.  I used WD-40 in the lock, and the key and the tumbler were pretty stuck in place from the thick oil in the transmission, but patience and working the key back and forth helped.   It all works great now.   Hugh

On the top face of the lock there is a serial # behind the dust cover (pull it back).  Take that # to an old school locksmith and have him look up the Yale code and cut you a key.  I did.
