1956 Buick Special Belt Line Trim Clips

Hello - 

I've been working on a 1956 Buick Special 2 Door Sedan for a while now.  I'm getting all the final pieces in place.  I have managed to find everything but some of the parts aren't in the best of shape.  The belt line trim clips don't seem to have any spring left and aren't holding the trim.  I was wondering if anyone had a solution for this.  I have tried a few different styles of universal clips, but nothing that is holding the trim tight enough.  The clips aren't accessible from the back side as its in an area that is doubled up so you can't see the clip from the inside like a door or fender trim.  I've attached a photo of the original clips, my best universal clip and the actual trim at the top of the door.

 

Any ideas?

Chances are, the original clips were made by AuVeCo, and are still available from AuVeCo.

Push come to shove drill 3/4" holes through the back side doubler and use a universal clip and nut. If the holes bother you just snap a hole plug in. Really not a big deal.......Bob

Yeah, those beltline clips are harder to fudge.

I used the plastic door clips with the big heads and trimmed the heads to hold trim. They seem to have worked for me.
