NTX5467
It might depend upon which vehicle brand and model. I know the first "stepper motor" HVAC actuators we had were on the early-introduction 1988 C/K pickups The earlier 1990s automatic a/c systems had varying amounts of electronics in them (as in the temp sensors and blower control modules). The actuators in the noted C/K trucks had several part number changes so they didn't "have issues" at the change of seasons (when the a/c was first used, when the defroster was first used). I suspect that by the middle 1990s, all of the actuators were stepper motors rather than vacuum units. NTX5467

JohnD1956
Kinda off topic, but, to Ben; are you contemplating cramming a 91 caddy A/C unit in the 50? Edited July 8, 2016 by JohnD1956 (see edit history)
Ben Bruce aka First Born
Naa, John. I believe there are easier ways to cool it down. My wife loves Cadillacs. Been watching a '91. She does not really like the next generation. But I would not want one with any vacuum in the hvac controls. Probably dreaming, any way. Her Alzheimer's will probably win. JohnD1956
She has good taste. Do it sooner than later if at all possible. I wish her the best!
