Ric Dean
Hubcap with octagon center 1930s? … Identification needed on what year and Model this Hubcap is, I think it’s from the 1930s, outside dia is about 7.5”. It has been as a wall-hanger for decades, not getting ready for evil-bay. Thank you, Ric
trimacar
I believe what you have is actually half a hubcap. It appears to be the backing plate, over which a thin chromed skin would be formed. The outer skin appears to be missing from this cap. If the hexagon is indented, then it was a Packard hubcap. If the hexagon is raised, then it was a Pierce Arrow hubcap. I think the hexagon is indented but because of shadows it could be an elliptical delusion.
Restorer32
I have also seen repro aftermarket Packard caps with the hex but without the lettering. I have one for a '32.
dodgedh2
That is a complete hub cap, not just the backing. It appears to be for approx. 1930 Essex.

Is the mustard color in the circle the original color? Thanks for your comment, Ric
keiser31
I agree with the Essex identification. The color is probably original.
trimacar
I bow to those who know the Essex application....it just looked like a backing plate to me, sorry.....my Dad always told me to put my best foot forward, try the one in my mouth, it's the clean one... If none of us ever stuck a foot in our mouth, would we have to brush our teeth? Don't worry, this is how we all learn.
