StillOutThere
I can not understand why the engine is highly detailed but "needs rebuilt". Nice car. Correct Dodge Plymouth Motor Wheel brand wire wheels but I've never seen them painted black before. Were they rusty?
Bleach
Black plates were issued from 1963 to about 1969. It should have a yellow plate to be original.
StillOutThere
The yellow background plates HAD TO BE removed when the black plates were issued in '63. There was no choice, no keeping them on the car. California has had HORRENDOUSLY complex license plate laws trying to keep up with the billions of cars registered in that state. And just recently they were foolish enough to start reissuing black plates to collectors. Of course the reason was they could charge a bunch of fees for owners to get them and the state is absolutely desperate for money.
Bleach
I know once the black plates came out the yellow plates had to be replaced. This can't be considered an original black plate car unless it was a 63 to 69/70 year model.
StillOutThere
All part of the confusion of California plates lost in the semantics of trying to sort it out and complicated by the car hobbys infatuation with theoretically rust free full life California cars. Largely a MYTH promoted by collector car dealers putting black plates from swap meets onto the cars which, as dealers, they have no need to register. People are so gullible.
