dei
My '58 Special has well worn kick panels and would like to know if there is anyone that offers these or can suggest what to do to replace them? It is a thick black plain cardboard type material. The other side I don't have as a pattern and is more complicated due to the heater box and hose. Thanks for any suggestions. Pete Phillips
It's called "painted cowlboard" and it is available in 4' by 6' sheets in various colors from Restoration Specialties & Supply, Inc., of Windber, PA. You buy a sheet or two and cut it out yourself, using the old one as a pattern. The passenger side one is more difficult due to the bends for the heater ducts, but I used three pieces and duct-taped them all together. Is holding so far, but I haven't used the car much, either. dei
Thanks Pete.Because I don't have the passenger side it's going to be like you state, difficult. You don't have anything in your stable of parts/supplies that I could use as a pattern do you? Smartin
I bought a set for Brian Clark's 58 Super from CARS for $36. I had to trim them a bit, but look good.
dei
Thanks Adam.Seems reasonable considering I'd have to actually make the drivers side up with no pattern. Trimming to fit I think I can handle....
D Yaros
I was able to buy them for a a 62 Oldsmobile. Found them on ebay. I would think they could be had for a 58 Buick?
