Brian_Heil Posted August 10, 2015 Share Posted August 10, 2015 Sounds like you need to either tighten the water pump packing gland nuts or better yet re-pack the glands on either side. Akstraw Posted August 23, 2015 Share Posted August 23, 2015 (edited) I have a 1915 model 25, and I find that it is normal to have to tighten the packing nuts periodically, and to have to repack them every now and then. If the shaft is smooth and round, the packing will last a good long time. If the shaft is rusty and rough, it will tear up the packing pretty quickly. Roger Barrett Posted August 24, 2015 Share Posted August 24, 2015 Your water pump shaft is probably rusted and grooved where the packing contacts it. New packings will not last if that is the case.
