AzBob
Just rebuilt the water pump on my 1926-26 and am unsure as to how much water pump grease to initially pump into the zerk. The shop or reference manuals don't seem to cover this or lubrication of the water pump at all other than mentioning the packing.Bob
Mark Shaw
Bob, Just a light coating on the pump shaft & packing prior to installation is all that is needed. Let the packing leak during run-in before tightening the packing follower just enough to stop the leak while running. Too much grease will end up in your radiator. Leif Holmberg
Those packings are self greasing.Leif in Sweden
AzBob
Mark and Leif, Thanks for the tips on greasing and operation of the water pump. The packing appeared to be pre lubed with a graphite type material. I agree, grease in the radiator would be bad news.Bob
hidden_hunter
don't think my pump even has a zerk connector on it to put grease in it, and it's also a
