The most likely cause of this is an oil pan that is dented in on the bottom, causing

the same amount of oil to read higher on the stick. We see this in my car repair shop all the time .....usually about a half quart error.

Sometimes an incorrect dipstick gets in there so that part number is good to have. Not to scare or concern you, but if nothing else solves your question, I've pulled down engines that easily had enough oil pan sludge to displace 1/2 quart. Hope not the case for you-good luck. Dan Mpls. Mn.
