Hi

, I'm reconditioning my 29 master motor for a 55x, and the rocker shaft has about 18 thou wear, so I need a new shaft. Does anyone know, can I buy new shaft to make a new one or is there something else that fits.

Cheers

Geoff

Thanks Leif, I've found 1 more shaft for a master but it was just as worn and there doesn't seem to be many spare master motors in NZ. I thought someone else might have got a new shaft made or know someone who does make them. If I could buy hollow shaft to start with it would say save lot of time.

Geoff:

Bob Sheppard makes new ones. He lists in his catalogue: "RS 4 - Rocker Shaft - 1929 -30 Master $130US. He can be reached at: Bob Sheppard, PO Box 83, Avondale Heights, Melbourne, 3034, AUSTRALIA. Tel: +61-3-9338-8556 Mon. - Thurs. from 10 AM - 4 PM (Australian Time); Fax: +61-3-9310-5096 (any time).

You might also be able to center grind your shaft and increase the size of the bushings in the rockers, etc. - though .018 is quite a bit to take-up.

hidden_hunter,Parts books made it much easier to find the right parts, therefor I have bought a lot of Buick 1920s parts books as 1919-1920 H-K models,(missing 1921-1922 6 cyl.) 1923-1924 4 cyl, models (missing 1922 4 cyl.) 1925-1926-1927 Std,models (missing 1928 Std.) 1924,1925,1926,1927,1928 Master models, 1929 and 1930 all models, but they don`t have much pictures to "scan", 1916-1930 and 1928-1938 Master chassie and body parts books, Buick 1951 master and body parts books as well as 1959 master and body parts books.

My cars are 1923-1924 4 cyl.Buicks and 1925-1927 Std.models as well as 1956 Roadmaster Convertible and also a 1956 Buick "Safir" made from a 1956 Special.

I have had a lot of help from "Larry"(thanks Larry)to buy some of those parts books just becuse som US-guys don`t want to sell abroad of some reasen?.

For me it`s a plesure to help other people if they don`t have the right parts,or can`t find the right parts.Therefor I have bought some of the books.

This week I have sent 2 frame-engine brackets 4 cyl.models 1923-1924 to CA,he had been searsing for those brackets in many years.

Thanks Leif, it really is a great help to all of us :) I've only managed to grab a copy of the shop manual, specifications and I also have the original owners manual for the 1926 standard.

On a side note the original owners manual shows everything in left hand drive, so it looks like nothing was ever produced for us with the steering wheel on the correct side. It also goes in to more detail about some things that even the shop manual doesn't (particularly around brake adjustments)
