dl456
Hello,We are condidering our first trip to the Chickasha meet. The closest motel accomodations that I can find are about twenty miles out.I did notice on their website that there is camping at the fairgrounds. They do not take reservationsso I assume first come/first served. Does anyone know if this facility fills up and what is the approximate distance from the campground to the swap meet. Walking distance? All comments appreciated. Thanks,Dennis
edinmass
It's a nice small town but we stay in Norman, Ok. It's about 40 min drive, but lts more choice for hotes, food, ect. For a two day meet the drive is no big deal and the roads are like a turnpike. Get there early as much of the trading goes on in the parking lot before the gates open. Good luck, Ed
motoringicons
From memory, the camping is on site or just next door to the fairgrounds. As Edimass said, get their early. By Friday it is almost all over. For prewar-only parts, it is probably the best swap meet in the US.
Larry Schramm
I usually stay in Ok City and arrive early. Easy drive.
huptoy
The setup is done after 4:00 Wednesday when they open the swap area gates. The vendors line up starting about noon and deal out of their trucks & trailers. By noon Friday, many of the vendors are packing up. There are very few, if any, post WW II items. auburn653
Early spring kickoff of car season! Get there mid afternoon Wednesday, browse the vendors in line, with lots of trading before the gates open. Thursday is big day. We pack up Friday morning and head for home.Have stayed right in Chickasha last few years. Nice friendly town, with great local flavor. They even let our group back every year..... motoringicons
The hotels in Chickasha are usually sold out long in advance, but, like most big events, there are last minute cancellations. So it is worth contacting the hotels during the week before or of the event.
