Ben Bruce aka First Born
Need some help. My '95 Park Ave has a coil pak not firing. Replacing it did no good. So what is the next thing back in the system to check? I have never had to trouble shoot one yet, and don't know the procedure. Ben
JohnD1956
The spark control module is underneath all three coil packs. Please try this.Pull off all three packs, then pull off the flat spark control module. There are three studs with nuts on the underside holding it to the bracket. Then clean off the corrosion you will likely find under the module and also clean the top of the bracket. Put on some of that Oxyguard, the gel sold for slowing corrosion between different metals ( I got mine at the hardware store) and try reassembling the unit. If you have the time and easy access, a local Auto parts store can test the spark control module while you have it off.
Ben Bruce aka First Born
Thank you, John. Will try that tomorrow. Two of the coils work fine. No spark from the other. Ben
old-tank
Can you swap the coils to see if it is a dead coil or a dead 'position'?
Ben Bruce aka First Born
OKAY!! Thanks John and Willie. Running like a BUICK should. It was the Ignition Module. Installed a new [made in the US!!!] one and all is well. Thanks again. Ben
