Guest Rob J
Last year when I started disassembling the 65 Riv for restoration, I removed a very nice, original to the car windshield. Since removal, it has developed a slight crack in the glass that runs about a foot in length or so. Probably due to me not storing it properly. What a shame. My question is, since I now have to get a new windshield, should I just toss this one in the trash? Seems like a shame to toss an otherwise nice original windshield. JZRIV
Sorry to hear about the crack. Those things happen. Considering the amount of work involved in replacing a windshield, I can't think of any scenario where you or anyone else would ever want to use it. No sense having it take up garage space. Guest Rob J
That's what I figured. Thanks for the push to dump it.
63 Rivi
If you need another push Rob, I'll second the motion. I had the same thing happen to me with the rear window on my 63. I felt terrible throwing it out but it was useless at that point.
RivNut
You can never tell who might be building a custom and wants a windshield to chop (depending on where the crack is.)
Guest Rob J
Well, here it is. Anyone that wants an OEM windshield, it's your's for the cost of shipping.
60FlatTop
It will be a few months before I knock down my windshield shipping crate, but here is what a safe one looks like: A new windshield from Prosource glass is about $500 for a first generation. That's one way to store. Here is another:Bernie
Guest Rob J
Bernie, that last way is too high tech for me. Not surprised on the cost, but hey, at least we can still get a windshield.
