Laughing Coyote
Is a 61 Ford Galaxy trunk the same as a 61 Mercury trunk? I need to get a replacement pan and they only offer one for a Ford. Thanks
Rusty_OToole
Can you get a picture of the Ford pan? Does it look like your old one?
Laughing Coyote
From what I can tell from the picture that the company shows and looking at mine they look the same. I know the 61 full size ford and mercury parts interchange. Just didnt want to throw away $250 if its not right.
Rusty_OToole
If you order it from a local parts store you should be able to return it if it does not fit.
Laughing Coyote
Well I took a chance and bought it. I will know in a few days. Sure looks like the same thing. Once I recieve it I will post my findings. Got it for less than $190 plus free shipping. If not I can alter it to work. Have plenty of steel around since I own a metal fabrication and machine shop.www.laughingcoyoteironworks.com
Laughing Coyote
Finally got the pan. It does fit the trunk area and will need a trim here and there to make it lay in just right. I will enclose pictures. The stamped reliefs are different from the original floor. Not as deep and wide. It will work and after a mat is in there you wont be able to tell. So I guess a 61 trunk pan for a ford will fit a 61 mercury. Hope this info can help someone else out there.
