Mr Riviera
I have installed a Reverb Unit a number of years ago with no problem . I am doing one now and I am in a world of hurt . I have tried three units / switches with the same results - one is NOS . When I turn the unit on I get a high pitch sound like loud feedback and just about all the volumn goes away from the rear speaker - as soon as I turn the reverb off , the rear speaker volumn goes back to normal . If I dont ground the trunk unit - there is no feedback but the unit doesnt work either ??? The trunk unit housing is positively charged when turned on ????Any thoughts out there ? Thanks for your help !

JohnD1956
Looks like the trunk unit would be grounded at the Reverb Switch. It's noted that the radio, both speakers, and the Reverb Switch are all grounded but the Trunk Unit is not.
RivNut
John,Installation of the reverb in the trunk requires the drilling of two 9/32" holes; one in the inner fender well, and one in the trunk floor. Even though it's not shown on the diagram, I'm betting that the reverb itself is grounded through the mounting screws.Ed
Mr Riviera
That is correct - the unit is grounded through the mounting screws .
JohnD1956
Given the diagram i would think the problem is in the three wire harness between the reverb switch & the trunk unit. Can a new wire harness be made to bypass this temporarilly for testing?
Mr Riviera
A new harness came with the NOS unit - tried it - no change ?
JohnD1956
Back to the diagram, it seems to show the fader as an external switch. But isn't the fader built right into the radio? There's not two faders in the circuit are there?
Mr Riviera
Not two - the factory fader is a knob that sits behind the knob that changes stations . The other side of the radio has an inner knob that adjusts bass , treble and so on . The fader knob has three wires that fits into the radio harness . Mr Riviera
I set the system up on the work bench - old speakers - tried both reverb boxes - same problem . The problem must be in the box with the springs . Now I need to find someone that works on them ?
