MarkV
Ok, I just bought a 1989 Buick Reatta, it is a great car, but I thought I would go ahead a replace a few items before I start driving it. So, I spent the day replacing the belt, alternator, etc. At the end of the day I noticed that the overflow hose hooked to just under the radiator cap was broken off. I may have bumped into it. But, on closer inspection it was deteriorated and must have crumbled. So, what can I do? Do I have to buy a new radiator? can I hook something up through the hole? What can be done? D Yaros
Without a pic, hard to tell what is/is not possible. If the spout is bad, I wonder if the system is able to be pressurized?Recommend you go over the the Reatta section of the Buick Forum here and inquire. A lot of folk there to help you with this! CarlLaFong
You should be able to drill it to tap size, thread it and screw in a barb fitting
joe_padavano
We need a picture. Is this an all-aluminum radiator, a brass radiator, or an aluminum radiator with plastic end tanks? Was it the small overflow tube that broke off of the filler neck? Our answer will depend on yours.
MarkV
It is an aluminum rad. with plastic end tanks. It was the small tube off of the filler neck which broke off.
CarlLaFong
Like I said, tap it and install a barb fitting. The overflow is not pressurized. Without the hose, the worse that will happen is you will puke a little coolant every so often.
