Concern for new tires

I am thinking of putting 235/60-15 on the OEM wheels of a 1989 Reatta. Other than the slight speedometer change, should I have any other concerns (i.e. width increases to 3/4")?

It's ben done many times. The only issues may be a slight rub on the fender liner at full lock.

I think I'll stay with 215/65. I would like to increase the diameter of the tire to fill the wheel well but can't find an acceptable compromise between height & width.

That is a lot of tire for a 6" rim, think the minimum for a 235 is a 6.5". I always try to select tires that are matched to the rims and for me on a 6" rim that is a 205/60 or 215/65 max.

I ran 245/50r16 on my '91 without a problem. This was not an intentional purchase, I purchased some rims with these Kumo tire. Sold the rims and had the tires sitting there with lots of tread. Did some calculations (www.powerdog.com) and they changed the speedometer 1%.

I had one mounted on a spare rim and proceeded to try it on the front (both sides) there was no rubbing. I had them all mounted and balanced and there were on there when I sold the car. I think the 235 is a better choice but not that many companies make that size.

'91 has 7" rims.
