Studebaker or Pierce Arrow

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I just bought an inline 8 cylinder Flathead engine 1930

There is no brand anywhere.

My question is....How can I know what brand this engine is? Is it a Studebaker or a Pierce Arrow?

Which are the differences between them?

I read somewhere, that Studebaker made Pierce Arrow 8s, in the late 20s..

THanks!

Fred

The Studebaker foundry cast both Pierce and Stude motors. Give us the casting numbers on the head, block by the starter and the serial number stamped on the front of block. Also Pierce had a squared edge head and Studes were rounded. The Pierce used timing chain and Stude a gear.
