rowan782
Anyone source or supply of the special sleeve with internal threads and hex head that secures gas tank straps to the floor of the trunk? Or, had experience with coming up something homemade and handy?
ply33
I believe I've seen an ad in the back of the Plymouth Owners Club's magazine by a fellow reproducing those sleeve nut things. I'll look it up when I get home.
wldavis
Sorry to butt in, but this was the ad Todd mentioned.I had to go back a few issues to find it. I have notseen it recently in the Plymouth Owners Club magazine. This was from issue 290, May/June, 2008. Hopefully, these are still being made. c49er
Mopar Rear trunk body mount bolts are the same as these special threaded nuts-1949- at least 1954. I've parted out these cars and used them for the gas tank straps.
John baker
A machinist friend of mine told me to get him a pair of 1/2 inch stainless bolts with a shoulder long enough. He cut the threads off , drilled and tapped the head and shoulder to the same thread on the strap.. It was a perfect replacement. This was for my 56 Chrysler 300B project.
