CTX-SLPR
Howdy,I keep seeing road wheels listed on the local craigslist that the sellers have no idea if they are disc wheels or not. Is there a describably measurement, trate, or casting mark that would differentiate them disc wheels from the drum wheels? Thanks,
John
There is a rim code stamped on the wheel, inside so must have tire off to see it. Rim codes 853 and 895 are for 15x6, 5x5 bolt circle, and will accomdate factory disc brakes. If you had one of these side by side with an older non-disc brake wheel it is easy to see the difference.Check this for more info: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?196455-Official-Guide-to-Rally-Wheels-Chart&highlight=wheel+chartJohn Edited April 25, 2012 by John (see edit history)
RivNut
For all of you non-ROA members, a membership in the ROA is well worth the money spent. There are two rather lengthy articles in the Tech Tips section that have measurements, stamping numbers, pictures, etc. that detail these wheels. Plus there are lots of other articles that deal with other similar questions that are posted here. Nothing like have a picture of the stamping numbers in front of you when you're looking to purchase something.Ed

1965rivgs
The Craig`s list link you sent for identification are NOT disc brake wheels, they are drum brake wheels. Hope this helps, Tom Mooney
CTX-SLPR
Tom,Thanks for answering my message. I was afraid of that with the listing of the grey centers being drum wheels.George,How much for a set of 4 and where are you? I'm not looking for show wheels so a structurally sound and straight set would be fine. Thanks,
