kdancy
Can anyone help me to understand how to use this machine ? I see it has a foot control for the riveting arm but what is the electric motor for? Any old literature on these?
Coley
The electric motor was used to turn a small bit that removes the rivet on the old linings. The the shoes are cleaned and the new lining riveted on with the foot press.
A. Ballard 35R
Great nachine! Looks to be in excellent shape and ready to use. It looks newer than the o I remember using as a kid back in the early fifties. Now if you could only find period lining and rivets you could go into business, but don't tell the EPA. Guest trainguy
I see you have the rivit sets for different size brass tubuler brake rivits. They fit in the foot opperated press and should be adjustable for different length rivits. As previously stated the motor drives a combonation drill - counter bore to drill the rivit hole and c'bore a recess in the lining for the rivits. It should also have an adjustment to set the depth of the c''bore so to leave aprox 1/16 lining under the rivit head.I have a simmilar machine and my friend and I used it all the time.Keep your eyes open for rivits at the flea mkts.Phil
kdancy
I seem to be missing a bit to go into the c'bore part. Could you post a picture of that part on your machine? Thanks!
JFranklin
If you want some new brake linings to play with I'll load a box at $2.00 a pound + cost to ship. these are all counterbored.
Guest Dick Whittington
I spent many an hour after school and during the summer riveting lining on. My right leg muscles were half again as big as my left leg. :)
