I have this old tester but never know what it's for can you help me

looks like a tester for sparkplugs. It would be helpful to see a better pic of the ends of the wires.

It's made by AC Spark Plug Co so it's obviously for spark plugs. The question is why six settings but only two wires and no indications

Maybe it is only a part of some test system, and I only see 5 settings. Does the oval hole at the bottom have a light in it?? Maybe it could be used to check resistance on spark plug wires one at a time and the 1-5 is to measure that.

Here is a thought... maybe.

Is it maybe a tester to see what kind of resistance there might be in the spark plug circuit? If you put an ohm meter on the ends of both wires and change the dial does the resistance change? If you were to hook up the tester in series with each spark plug individually and turn the dial until the car started to miss you would see where there is a difference in voltage/current required to jump the sparkplug until it would miss.

This might make sense since the body of the tester is a bakelite material that is used as an isulation mater in the 1950's and back..... just a thought.
