Steve Hagy
Good Morning! This car is a real beauty. Looks to be a high-end model, but maybe it's just those big headlights and the spare on the running board that lead me to think that. So, come up with the name of some exotic manufacturer for this one! Also, would this have been a convertible or was the roof removed?Happy New Year!Steve
keiser31
Radiator shell looks like 1929 Lincoln. Lights look like the items used on my 1929 Franklin or a Stutz.
nzcarnerd
From the driving position and the overall size of the vehicle I reckon it is something commercial - maybe a Seagrave?? The clothing worn by the people in the pic suggest 1950s or later. I wonder if this is an old fire truck re worked.
Larry Schramm
If I was betting, I would put it as some sort of fire/civil defense emergency response vehicle.
Guest Jim_Edwards
It certainly isn't "automobile" it is unquestionably a pumper truck from the late 1920's to early 1930's. Could be a Knox, Seagrave, American-LaFrance, or Mack. Mack fire trucks up to 1935 had huge headlights of the nature seen on the vehicle in the photo. HarryJ
They are right........it is a late "L" Lincoln. Many of these were converted to commercial service fire, wrecker, etc in their service lives. The bumpers, wheels and headlights have been changed yet it is a Lincoln. Note, Lincoln shipped several chassis to commercial body builders in the day. Another note , the headlights look "M" Stutz.
Steve Hagy
Hi,Many thanks for the multitude of replies. I'll go with the Lincoln I.D.! I'm aware of the emergency vehicle nature of this piece (I thrive on fire engines); the body may have been built by McKay of Grove City, Pennsylvania. Thanks again,Steve
